Do you ever feel as though you are spending most of your day trying to figure out which road to take when dealing with leave laws? Leaves of absence, whether they are due to medical, personal, military, work-related injury, or other reasons represent an increasing challenge to employers. Employers want to do the right thing, both legally and for the employee. Given the legal maze around these laws, they often don't know which way to turn and fear making a costly mistake.

This workshop will provide you with an overview of the various leave laws affecting your workplace and how they might overlap with one another. Updates on new and challenging issues under FMLA, OFLA, and federal and state disability laws, including the revised ADA, will be covered. Participants will gain a basic understanding of what should be done before the subject of a leave is ever discussed, what to do when an employee asks for a leave, and what not to do in any situation involving a leave of absence.
