How do supervisors identify and help the troubled employee?

This workshop helps answer this question by exploring the supervisor's role in effectively addressing performance problems exhibited by troubled employees in their department. Clairy in performance evaluations, documentation and interviewing are reviewed. Participants will learn the step-by-step process of referring the troubled employee to an employee assistance program or other resource.

This training will also explore in depth the ways that supervisors can identify employee drug use. This is a detailed overview of substance abuse in the workplace and how it impacts the issues of safety, productivity and healthcare. Participants will also learn about the levels of drug use, ranging from experimentation to addiction.

Specific intervention techniques will be developed and practiced. Policy and practice tools will be provided. Through case examples, the do's and don'ts of dealing with the impaired employee will be covered.
