Key U.S. Labor Law Developments in 2010 and What to Expect in 2011
Miller Nash LLP invites United Employers Association members to participate in a free web seminar that will review important recent labor law developments and suggest practical ways to minimize your risk as an employer as a result of union organizing. (This is a companion program to the January webinar on key U.S. employment law developments.)
The new National Labor Relations Board majority has already begun changing decades of NLRB rule and practice with one goal: making union organizing easier. This seminar is sponsored by the Employment Law Alliance (ELA) and offers a national perspective from a panel of attorneys from around the country. Speakers will address such issues as:
- Ways that a union can impact your business
- Why the current workforce is becoming more receptive to the union message
- Reversal of important precedent: NLRB decisions that the current Board is poised to issue
- Whether employees can disparage the company and its supervisors on social network sites; protected concerted activity in 2011
- Regulatory changes the Board can make without going to Congress
- Trends in collective bargaining that could impact the non-union locations of a unionized employer
- Ten things that every employer should do now to prepare for labor law change in 2011
