Family Leave Laws

Under the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA), Oregon employers with 25 or more employees must provide up to 12 weeks of protected leave in a year (and in some cases more).  If you are an employer with 50 or employees in Oregon, you are covered under both OFLA and the federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).  Knowing which rules and circumstances apply is tricky!

This three-hour seminar, offered by UEA in conjunction with BOLI, is designed to help employers, their office managers, payroll staff, front-line managers and supervisors understand the OFLA requirements and how they differ from FMLA.  We will have in-depth discussions on:

  • Sick Child Leave
  • Pregnancy Disability Leave
  • Parental Leave
  • Serious Health Condition Leave
  • How to manage intermittent leave
  • The impact on medical benefits coverage
  • Your questions and our answers

In addition, we will discuss the paperwork involved in requesting and granting or denying leave and will provide a number of helpful sample forms.
