Most employers will pay the state $2.00 - $5.00 for every dollar paid out to a former employee whose claim is charged back to their account. Managing every claim--and avoiding those that are unwarranted--is essential!

Unemployment is the only tax an employer can substantially control by how it handles employee separations and claims management. In 2018, Oregon employers will pay between $353 and $2,122 in unemployment tax per employee. In Washington, employers paid between $47 and $2,696 per employee. The amount depends on how claims are managed and controlled.

This FREE (for UEA Members) workshop will give you the tools to better understand and manage unemployment claims and unemployment insurance tax rates:

  • Understanding the rules and basis for tax rates and benefits
  • Winning disputed claims
  • Removing nonchargeable claims
  • Avoiding and controlling claims
  • Understanding WorkShare programs and their impact on tax rates
  • Reducing tax rates and taxes paid

Oregon and Washington will issue annual unemployment tax rate notices soon. As always, UEA is offering a complimentary audit of your current tax rate and chargeable claims. Bring your 2018 tax rate notice to the workshop to get started!
