Washington Paid Sick Leave Law - Notice to All Employees Due Today, March 1 ,2018
On January 1, 2018, the Washington Paid Sick Leave law went into effect. The law requires Washington employers to provide one hour of paid sick leave to most employees for every 40 hours worked, considering all hours worked, including overtime.
Most employees are eligible to receive paid sick leave. However, employers have some discretion on whether to provide paid sick leave to certain employee types (e.g., doctors, lawyers, and dentists employed in their applicable professional fields, and executive managers).
Notice to Employee due on March 1, 2018: Washington employers are required to provide all current employees notification of their rights under the Washington paid sick leave law by March 1, 2018. New employees must receive the same notification upon hire. The required notification must include the employee's entitlement to paid sick leave, the rate of accrual, authorized purposes for leave’ and the law's anti-retaliation provisions.
