Late Friday afternoon, Governor Inslee announced that all businesses will be required to ensure their customers or clients are wearing face coverings.
Starting Tuesday, July 7, businesses will be legally required to only serve those wearing a mask or some sort of face covering.
There are exemptions to the face covering order, including people with certain disabilities or health conditions, people who are deaf or hard of hearing and children under the age of 2.
Individuals with medical conditions preventing them from wearing a mask will not have to disclose their specific condition to a business, instead they are only required to state they have a condition that affects their ability to wear a mask. Businesses are encouraged to provide accommodations for those not wearing masks, such as curbside pick-up, delivery or other virtual options.
This requirement will be monitored by the state Department of Labor & Industries.
